Congratulations to Jo Dias, who has received a U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) award!
The award supports Jo’s research at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where she will work with Ron Soltz to study how energetic quarks and gluons lose energy as they travel through the hot matter created in heavy-ion collisions.
Her project, “Utilizing the Bayesian Analysis Framework to Investigate Jet Energy Loss,” brings together physics models, experimental measurements and statistical methods. By comparing model predictions with data, she aims to better understand how this energy loss depends on the properties of the particles and the matter they pass through.
The SCGSR program gives graduate students the opportunity to carry out part of their doctoral research at a national laboratory, working alongside laboratory scientists and using their research facilities.
We’re excited for Jo to take this next step and look forward to seeing her work develop. Congratulations, Jo!
